Our school is accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and adheres to the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.

Global English World has been awarded the highest rating of Highly Confident for educational performance, making us a Category 1 institution. We take immense pride in the expertise of our staff and the academic accomplishments of our students. Additionally, we foster a welcoming, friendly, and family-like atmosphere where all students can enjoy their learning journey.

THE SCHOOL

Global English World has been providing English language tuition since 1993.
We prioritize quality above all. As a Category One school and a member of English New Zealand, we offer a robust academic programme with General English classes at various levels. We also specialize in exam preparation, including IELTS, Cambridge First, and Advanced. Recognizing each student as an individual, we strive to meet their unique learning needs and goals.
Beyond our academic offerings, we have a comprehensive activities programme that attracts learners from around the globe, providing a dynamic and engaging environment for English learning.
One of our distinctive features is our wide age range of students, typically from 16 to over 70 years old.

Our Goal

Our primary aim is to support all learners and staff in reaching their full potential – academically, physically, and emotionally. We foster a supportive, motivating, and healthy environment where cultural differences are embraced and valued, and where both students and staff feel they are part of the Global English World family, their “whanau” away from home.

Our Philosophy

We employ a Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach. We place a high value on communication skills and encourage students to use the language actively, not just analyze it.
Understanding that language is integral to social and cultural life, we believe students learn best through genuine social and cultural interactions. We create international learning environments in our classrooms where students can exchange ideas and share their interests and opinions.
We advocate for holistic language learning, balancing all aspects of language: grammar and syntax, vocabulary and pronunciation, speaking and listening, reading and writing. This includes adapting to different contexts and purposes, from everyday functional language to social interactions, academic, and business language.
We are a learner-centered institution. We focus on our learners’ needs, recognizing their individuality, backgrounds, personalities, learning styles, and reasons for studying English.

Our Classes

Our morning General English classes aim to enhance students’ overall language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) alongside their pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary, all within meaningful and engaging contexts.
We use the latest high-quality course materials (such as Empower, Global, Face-to-Face, and English File) and supplement these with authentic texts and audio-visual resources.
We strive to make learning enjoyable and relevant to our students’ lives.
Our afternoon classes are adaptable, catering to the diverse needs and interests of our student body.
  • Maximum of 16 students per class, with an average of 8
  • All students receive either a leaving report or a certificate upon completing their programme.

Our Staff

All our regular tutors hold internationally recognized qualifications and are experienced, skilled teachers. They have traveled extensively and understand different countries and cultures, making them highly dedicated, responsible, and caring professionals. They contribute significantly to the pastoral care and classroom learning of our students.
We carefully select our staff for their personal qualities, ensuring they are kind, friendly, and helpful individuals who enjoy working with international students. Our tutors are regularly evaluated, and we have an ongoing training programme to maintain the high teaching standards for which Global English World is renowned.
