The NZ Ministry of Education Code of Practice

Global English World has agreed to observe and be bound by the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 and the International Student Contract Dispute Resolution Scheme Rules 2016. Copies of the Code are available on request from the institution or from the NZQA website.

Eligibility of Healthcare Services

Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly-funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health and can be viewed on their website.

Immigration

Full details of visa and permit requiremetns, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying and reporting requirements are available through Immigration New Zealand and can be viewed on their website at http://www.immigration.govt.nz

Medical and Travel Insurance

International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand. Full details of visa and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available through Immigration New Zealand and can be viewed on their website.

Each international tertiary learner enrolled with Global English World in Auckland for educational instruction of 2 weeks or longer must have appropriate insurance covering:

(a) The international tertiary learner’s travel:
  • To and from New Zealand (including travel before the course begins and after it ends, which may be outside of the enrolment period).
  • Within New Zealand.
  • Outside New Zealand, if the travel is part of the educational instruction.
(b) Medical care in New Zealand, including diagnosis, prescription, surgery, and hospitalization.
(c) Repatriation or expatriation due to serious illness or injury, including travel costs incurred by family members assisting repatriation or expatriation.
(d) Death of the international tertiary learner, including cover for:
  • Travel costs of family members to and from New Zealand.
  • Costs of repatriation or expatriation of the body.
  • Funeral expenses.
